Palliative Care

Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses like advanced cancers, organ failures (Liver/Kidney/ Heart/Lung) and Neuro denerative diseases like Parkinson's disease, Alzhemimer's disease etc.  It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.

Palliative care is provided by a specially-trained team of doctors, nurses, social workers, volunteers and other specialists. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness and can be provided along with curative treatment.

Palliative care services can be provided at hospitals, hospice and homes too.

Age Care Foundation is running a six bed hospice in association with St. Joseph's Hospital in their premises at Maharanipet, near Z.P.Junction, Visakhapatnam. Home care is also provided to the deserving patients by a team consisting of doctors, nurses and volunteers.
