Dementia Care
Dementia is one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older people worldwide. It is not a part of normal ageing process. It is an umbrella term for several progressive degenerative diseases of the brain cells, affecting memory, thinking, language, communication and behaviour, that interfere significantly with a person’s ability to maintain their activities of daily living. It can be overwhelming, not only for the people who have it, but also for their carers and families. There is often a lack of awareness and understanding of dementia, resulting in stigmatization and barriers to diagnosis and care.
We have joined hands with Dementia India Alliance {DIA}, Bengaluru, a non-profit family carer-centered national organisation, to pool their expertise and resources for the benefit of persons with dementia and their families.
We regularly launch campaigns to create awareness in the community; engage with the policy makers to advocate for appropriate policies, strategies, programs and resources for dementia care.
We are initiating screening programs for early detection of dementia in the vulnerable groups. We are in the process of conducting regular memory clinics and establishing day care centers for person with dementia.
We are making home care visits to persons suffering with dementia, for periodic health check ups and managing comorbidities.
