Geriatric medicine is a medical specialty that is related to the specific health care needs of older adults.
The Indian elderly face several social issues such as loneliness, elder abuse, neglect, lack of income security, and poor access to health care. According to the National Council on Aging, about 92 percent of seniors have at least one chronic disease and 77 percent have at least two. Heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes are among the most common.
Since 2012 we have been providing geriatric care services to the underprivileged elderly in our community. Our geriatric care services are availed by about 1200 persons every month.
We conduct out-patient clinics at different locations in the city to reach out to the elderly in the community, throughout the year, on designated days of the week. A medical team specialized in geriatric care, screen and treat for all ailments with special attention to hypertension and diabetes. We provide all the required medicines mostly free of cost.
Similar geriatric care clinics are conducted in the rural and tribal areas. All the elderly and the needy are screened and treated for all ailments concerned. Free medicines and health check ups are provided.
Awareness/advocacy campaigns with regards to ageing and related health concerns, nutrition, mental well being, are conducted regularly.
Old Age Home Visits
